Hyatt Regency Dehradun — a full restaurant, designed with the brand team.
Ambient pendants over dining, accent work on the bar, feature lighting on walls — specified, mocked up and installed with Hyatt Regency brand oversight throughout.
The brief: brand-calibrated lighting that serves the room and the service.
A Hyatt Regency restaurant in Dehradun. The brand team had clear lighting expectations — specific ambient feel, specific task levels at the table, specific accent language on the bar and on feature walls.
F&B lighting is deceptively layered. Too much ambient and the room feels lobby-like. Too much task and it reads as retail. The narrow band of calibration — where the room feels right to a guest without them noticing why — is what we were hired to deliver.
Three lighting layers that have to disappear into one another.
Ambient, task and accent each solve a different problem. They also have to coexist. Dimming curves that work at 8pm service have to hold at 10:30pm wind-down. Beam spreads that wash the feature wall can't spill onto the dining table two metres away.
The brand's F&B ops team had strong views on service conditions, and the design team had strong views on atmosphere. We had to deliver both — at mockup, under real service lighting, before anything went to production.
Joint mockup. Service-condition testing. Brand sign-off before production.
Joint spec workshop with Hyatt Regency
Brand lighting consultant, F&B ops lead and the hotel design team in one room. Ambient, task and accent targets agreed with dimming ranges specified per zone.
Sample development
Sample fixtures built for the three layers — pendant, table task, bar/feature accent. Dimming curves validated at our factory under simulated service conditions.
On-site mockup
One dining zone mocked up at the Dehradun site. Evening and late-service conditions tested with the F&B ops lead present. Minor adjustments made on site.
Production and install
Bulk production across both factories. Install and commissioning completed with the F&B ops team present for final dimming calibration.

The technical detail.
Every project is documented to this level at handover — specs, finishes, electrical, AMC terms.
"F&B is where you find out if your lighting understands the difference between a room and a service. The mockup tells you in one evening — well before production."Project Lead · Hyatt Regency Dehradun
